Oi Magazine
A lifestyle guidance for expats in Vietnam
Project Overview
Oi Magazine brings the vibrant lifestyles of Saigonese to expatriates, offering insights into the city's diverse facets. From city news to culinary delights, travel destinations, luxurious resorts, healthcare services, educational opportunities, and more, Oi Magazine covers a wide array of topics tailored to the cosmopolitan audience.
My role involves curating and presenting the magazine in a comprehensive format, ensuring it is the perfect fit for a coffee table magazine, inviting readers to explore and engage with its rich content.

Project Reflection
-
In my role, I started each month by receiving a preliminary pagination from the managing editor, which outlined the editorial articles. This allowed me to plan and brainstorm themes for the upcoming month. Throughout the month, I continuously received content, materials, and design requests for advertisements. As the publication date approached, typically during the last week, the workload intensified significantly.
Despite the challenges of last-minute tasks, I developed the ability to manage and prioritize effectively. Over time, I became accustomed to the fast-paced environment and honed my skills in handling tight deadlines and high-pressure situations.

Tight Deadlines: Managing a monthly publication like Oi Magazine involves working with tight deadlines, especially during the final week before publication. Balancing multiple tasks and ensuring timely delivery can be challenging.
Content Diversity: Covering a wide range of topics such as city news, food and beverages, travel, healthcare, education, etc., requires staying updated with diverse subject matters and ensuring the content is engaging and relevant to the target audience.
Quality Control: Maintaining high-quality standards across all aspects of the magazine, including editorial articles, design layout, and visual elements, requires attention to detail and effective communication with contributors and the editorial team.
Adaptability: The publishing industry is dynamic, and trends, preferences, and reader expectations can evolve rapidly. Staying adaptable and responsive to changes while maintaining the magazine's identity and vision can be a challenge.
Resource Management: Efficiently managing resources such as manpower, budget, and production tools to meet deadlines and produce a high-quality magazine can be demanding, especially during peak times or when faced with unexpected challenges.
Market Competition: Competing with other publications in the same niche or attracting and retaining readership in a competitive market requires strategic planning, innovative content ideas, and effective marketing strategies.
